Unlock the Essence
The first step

Don't know where to start? First make the beginning smaller.

When the beginning feels too large, it is easy to stay still. Unlock does not ask for a perfect plan. It helps you find an entry point small enough to do today.

Example questions

“I don't know where to start.”
“I know what I need to do, but I can't start.”
“I need one step without forcing myself.”

Why does the beginning stall?

One possible reason for delay is that the first step carries too much pressure. If starting feels like proof that you must succeed immediately, it is worth making the start smaller before concluding that you lack willpower.

What does a good first step look like?

A good first step does not solve everything. It simply interrupts the standstill. It can be opening a file, sending one message, working for five minutes, writing down one obligation or deciding exactly when you will return to the topic.

What can you ask Unlock?

You can write: "I know what I need to do, but I can't start" or "What is the smallest way into this topic?" The answer should help you begin without adding more pressure.
